CHARLOTTETOWN – APM staff once again dedicated themselves in numerous ways to the 29th Annual IWK Telethon for Children this weekend, helping to raise a record $5,877,139.53 for the children's hospital.

Since 1999, APM staff members have contributed annually to the IWK through payroll deductions, raffles and barbeques with the company matching all employee donations. This year, APM Vice President of Business Development John Dalton presented a cheque on behalf of the company for $7,200 dollars.

As well, for the second year in a row, APM took part in the Telethon’s Miracle Match where for three minutes the company matched the amount pledged by viewers, APM presented an additional $5,000 commitment this way.

A Maritime tradition, the Telethon helps the IWK Health Centre – the region’s specialized care children’s hospital - purchase much needed medical equipment, fund research, and support special programs for families who must use the hospital. This year’s funds will go towards essential equipment such as a central monitoring system for the emergency department and an echocardiography work station for the neonatal intensive care unit.

Each year, numerous APM staff members also volunteer to answer phone pledges during the Telethon’s broadcast on CTV.

This year’s phone volunteers included:

Wendy Quinn
Anne-Marie O’Rourke
Heather Joudrie
Heather Nelson

John Dalton
Josh Burns
Ryan Nesbitt
Scott McPherson

Several staff members also took phone pledges during the lead-up radio CFCY Radio-thon held earlier this spring including: Wendy Quinn, Neila Roberts, Crystal Cameron and Corinne Verleun.

To date, APM has raised $87,000 for the IWK Health Centre; APM CEO Tim Banks is proud of his employees for its continued support and dedication.

“This region depends on the IWK Health Centre and I am really proud of how our company’s commitment to the hospital remains so strong.”
