Spring start date for state-of-the-art Souris School

Mar 21 2013

APM’s construction management team has been working closely with the provincial government and their Consulting team to prepare for a May start for the new Souris K-12 School Project.

Approximately $20 million is being spent to expand and renovate the existing Souris Regional High School into a new 120,000 square foot, modern, K-12 school. More than half of the space will be new construction and the remaining space will be completely upgraded. Among the many features in the new space, there will be a new K-6 academic wing, band room, enhanced Career and Technology Education space, Arts Education space, two gymnasiums and upgraded green spaces. The school will also include a modern cafeteria with food services and culinary teaching area with culinary arts equipment for enhanced curriculum as well as a modern greenhouse.

APM has been working with the project’s architect and the provincial government to develop Trade Packages and construction phasing plans, and will manage the tender process. Throughout the construction process, APM will provide construction supervision, contract administration, safety management and quality control services.

APM Vice President of Engineering Ian Harper says that the company’s decades of diverse engineering and construction experience, and our positive relationship with the province and their consulting ream, should enable us to exceed expectations for quality, cost and schedule.

“We have managed several similar projects in the past and are confident that this experience will be an asset during construction. As construction managers we will be heavily involved in all aspects of the project; and will do our part to ensure that the community of Souris is pleased with the new Souris K-12 School, which is scheduled to be complete in August 2015.”
