Maid Marians Diner opens in Summerside

Jul 10 2009

APM is pleased to announce that Maid Marian’s, the diner made famous in Charlottetown for its family friendly atmosphere and all day breakfast, has opened its doors at a new location in Summerside, Prince Edward Island. Having recently opened its doors, the diner is situated along Summerside’s main retail corridor at 519 Granville Street, between Wal-Mart and the Superstore, and has the same menu and look as the original Charlottetown diner and the same outstanding quality of friendly service and atmosphere.

The Summerside operation will be owned and operated by Mark and Sara McKenna of Charlottetown. The McKennas, friends of the Walker family who own and operate the Charlottetown Maid Marian’s, has been in the restaurant industry for twelve years and have operated a Wendy’s restaurant in Canmore, Alberta prior to returning home to Prince Edward Island.

APM is proud to be involved in bringing a new restaurant experience to the capital of Prince County through the leasing of this high profile property to Maid Marian’s. The City of Summerside has seen new job creation and investment through the entry of Maid Marian’s to the market and residents have flocked to the new dining experience in their home market.

This past spring the original Charlottetown diner tragically burned to the ground due to fire which drew a tremendous amount of public interest. Shortly afterward, and with tremendous community support, the Charlottetown diner’s owners, Peter and Wendy Walker, committed to rebuilding their family diner in the same theme and at the same location on Brackley Point Road. It is anticipated that the Charlottetown Maid Marian’s will be open for the fall of 2009.

Maid Marian’s

The iconic breakfast and lunch establishment has been operated in the Sherwood community of Charlottetown for more than twenty two years. Friendly and fast service are the order of the day at Maid Marian’s. Always bustling, the original diner had been decorated with a variety of sailing and nautical photos and images, while the menu offered an array of hot plates – many aptly named after characters from the children’s story ‘Robin Hood’.
