Boys and Girls Clubs

APM CEO and Killam Properties Director Tim Banks recently revealed a $200,000 donation to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Prince Edward Island.

Each year, the ten directors, including Banks, of Killam Properties –an Eastern Canadian real estate company -- personally donate $10,000 each to a worthwhile Atlantic Canadian organization. This year, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Charlottetown and Summerside were chosen to receive the donation. Banks decided that APM will donate an additional $50,000 for a total of $200,000.

The Boys and Girls Clubs mission is to provide safe, supportive places where children and youth can experience new opportunities, overcome barriers, build positive relationships and develop confidence and skills for life.

With this financial support, The Summerside Club plans to renovate their existing building and construct an additional wing. Features will include a new gym facility, technology cent re, and laundry services for youth to use. The club expects that the new expansion will be better able to support Summerside’s older youth, ages 13 to 19.

The Charlottetown Club is looking into buying an additional building in the city to accommodate rising numbers of youth who wish to utilize their services and provide an opportunity for more programming.

Banks says he is excited to work with community members and groups like the Rotary Club of Summerside to continue fundraising for this project.

“We want to see this project through to completion and ensure that our youth are getting exactly what they need. We’ll be looking for more community pledges throughout the coming months”.

Adam Binkley, executive director of the Boys and Girls Club of Summerside is ecstatic with having Tim Banks and Killam Properties provide this financial support. “$100,000 is a ton of money but having (Banks’) expertise and reputation spearheading this project is worth a million times more.”
